Why should you join DFWHRA?
Because it is a place to make great friends... and great dogs!
There are many reasons for joining a retriever club. Friendship, love of retrievers or - maybe you are a hunter looking for other people to hunt with, or a way to improve your days in the field.
One of the best reasons is conservation. A well-trained retriever is a game management, or conservation tool. No one likes to waste game, but everyone cripples a bird from time to time. The trained retriever is the best and fastest means of finding downed birds and getting them in the bag.
One of the most efficient ways to turn your retriever into a well trained conservationist is to join a retriever club. In a club, you will meet people of all backgrounds. Some will have years of experience while others are just getting started.
Another great reason to join DFWHRA is the opportunity to participate in field test events and earn ribbons and titles for yourself and your dog.
Field tests are great fun for your entire family. You get to meet new people with similar interests, and see tons of new
and different dogs.
Some of the people you meet will become lifelong friends, even though you only see them a few times a year at
field tests.
